Refocusing on Respect in Professional Sports

Great Article from Bustedhalo about respecting ourselves and our opponents when playing sports.  And I agree with the author, I am very excited for the Olympics!!!

Refocusing on Respect in Professional Sports

This is Just Cool!!!!

and it reminds of a quote I read this week: "God isn't the force that made it happen, he is the creator that made it possible." Brother Guy J. Consolmagno, SJ (a research astronomer at the Vatican Observatory)

Do We Live in Missionary Territory?

An excellent piece by Cardinal Dolan.  Check it out here and see if you can find where he quotes  Blessed Chaminade without realizing it.

Letters to a Young Atheist

I thought you guys would enjoy this "letter" series that Ryan Duns, SJ, a high school theology teacher, has put together over at the Jesuit Post (a blog).

It is a series of five letters written to Timothy, an imaginary doubting student.  The letters are very well done in my opinion.

Below are the links to the first three letters, the other two will be posted on the next two Fridays (I think??)

Letter 1
Letter 2
Letter 3

Enjoy.

Volunteers needed for 3C Week at Meribah

Any student interested in helping out at Meribah during 3C Week (August 27 - 31) should contact Mr. Foley by e-mail at mfoley@chaminade.org.

Volunteers meet at 8:00 a.m. and are bused to Meribah -- they return to Chaminade by 3:30pm (usually after a little swimming).

The primary responsibility of the Meribah volunteers is the preparation of the lunch each day for the new freshmen (BBQ hot dogs).  Assistance is also needed during the prayer services.

Attire for the week is neat and casual.  Shorts and a t-shirt are acceptable.

Who is a Fool for Christ?

These guys:

On July 7th, 35 Chaminade students enjoyed the Long Island Catholic Youth Conference sponsored by the Adelphi University Newman Club.  The day included a concert with Popple, a talk by Daniel McQuillan, Mass celebrated by Fr. Brian Barr with the music done by Anthony Muhs, and Eucharistic Adoration led by the Ike Ndolo Band.  There was also time for reconciliation, food, and a little frisbee.

See the rest of the pictures below.
