Refocusing on Respect in Professional Sports

Great Article from Bustedhalo about respecting ourselves and our opponents when playing sports.  And I agree with the author, I am very excited for the Olympics!!!

Refocusing on Respect in Professional Sports

This is Just Cool!!!!

and it reminds of a quote I read this week: "God isn't the force that made it happen, he is the creator that made it possible." Brother Guy J. Consolmagno, SJ (a research astronomer at the Vatican Observatory)

Letters to a Young Atheist

I thought you guys would enjoy this "letter" series that Ryan Duns, SJ, a high school theology teacher, has put together over at the Jesuit Post (a blog).

It is a series of five letters written to Timothy, an imaginary doubting student.  The letters are very well done in my opinion.

Below are the links to the first three letters, the other two will be posted on the next two Fridays (I think??)

Letter 1
Letter 2
Letter 3

Enjoy.

Summer Reading Recommendations

The school has compiled a list of Supplement Reading Recommendations that is broken down by grade level and subject.  It can be found here: Summer Reading List

Also, during the last week of school, I recommended three books for possible summer reading, they were:

1) Catholicism by Robert Barron
2) Between Heaven and Mirth by James Martin, SJ
3) My Life with the Saints by James Martin, SJ

All three can be purchased at amazon.com or any other book store location.

Enjoy the summer!!!  Check back, I will update the blog during the summer.

Is God Calling You?

You never know when the call from God may come to you ... it may even be at a baseball game.

Sorry I couldn't resist the bad joke!!!

FYI: I think the nun is from the Benedictine Daughters of the Divine Will.

Shocking the Audience with "The Prayer"

Simon, the other judges, and the entire audience laughed as this boy and his friend came on stage. But then those laughs quickly turned to applause and tears when Jonathan and Charlotte started to sing.

Its gone viral with 6 million hits.

Funny (and somewhat religious) Basketball Traditions

Caught these on "Around the Horn." They are very cool and funny student traditions.
